British Standards for Ladders
British Standards apply to most ladders and stepladders, made of
Timber, Aluminium and Glassfibre. Ladders and stepladders are manufactured to
British Standards to protect you the user. If a product is certified to British
Standards this means it has surpassed numerous tests specifically designed to
test the products weight bearing capabilities.
However, some ladders and
stepladders have no certification, this is because British Standards have no
certification for that particular type of product. Where this is the case, our
products are manufactured with the relevant materials and assembled in the same
manner as a certified product would be.
The following Standards apply to
certain types of product. (Look out for the 'British Standards symbol,' as this
means the product is certified)
Industrial
Class 1 BS2037: 1994 Duty Rating 130Kg (20.4st) Maximum
vertical static load 175Kg (27.5st)
This standard applies to products
being used in an industrial environment and for heavy duty and relatively high
frequency use.
Trade
BS EN131 is the European Standard. Maximum permissible load
150Kg (23.5st)
EN131 is the European Standard, which now covers the
previous Class 2 British Standard. This standard covers the product being used
in a trade environment.
Domestic
Class 3 BS2037: 1994 Duty Rating 95Kg (15st) Maximum vertical
static load 125Kg (19.5st)
This standard applies to products being used
in and around the home. These products are designed for low frequency use. |
